Student Success Coach, Alpha - $120,000/year USD

About the role
This is not a teaching role. This is motivation work. If a student reaches 99% of their target and you're tempted to call it complete, this role isn't for you. But if refusing to lower the bar is precisely how you communicate belief in what a student can achieve, continue reading.
Responsibilities
- Facilitating one-hour life-skills sessions for K-8 groups covering public speaking, focus, feedback culture, and other essential competencies—modifying the existing framework and creating new modules when you identify missing elements
- Conducting daily individual and small-group coaching conversations that drive every student toward their weekly app targets, leveraging Coachbot data, Alpha's reward structures (campus currency, performance boards), and your personal rapport with each student to overcome reluctance
- Overseeing Test2Pass administration (Alpha's competency-based evaluation) for each life skill and continuing to coach students who fall short until they achieve mastery
- Moving your approach across a broad developmental spectrum—from kindergarteners requiring dynamic, kinetic engagement to eighth graders who respond to direct conversation and personal accountability
- Analyzing weekly cohort metrics in Coachbot, pinpointing students falling behind target, and recalibrating your methods for the upcoming week according to what the data reveals
Requirements
- Available to work on-site at an Alpha campus located in Beverly Hills, CA; Piedmont, CA; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Miami Beach, FL; Palm Beach Gardens, FL; Chicago, IL; Raleigh, NC; Portland, OR (relocation assistance provided)
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline
- Minimum of 3 years' direct experience working with K-8 students (including classroom instruction, coaching, tutoring, camp counseling, or youth program management)
- A concrete example you can articulate of pushing a K-8 student toward a challenging objective: what the goal was, your specific actions, and the result
- Comfort allowing AI to manage instructional delivery while you concentrate on motivation and life-skills development
- Authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
Nice-to-have requirements
- Background in youth sports coaching, debate, camp direction, theater, or extracurricular programs where you bore direct accountability for motivating children toward defined outcomes
- Demonstrated record of exceptional personal achievement (in academics, athletics, or career) that shows maintaining high standards for others is intrinsic rather than performative
- Command of narrative and presentation skills sufficient to engage a room of 12-year-olds for an hour without escalating volume
- History of converting disinterested or oppositional students into engaged contributors
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Delivering content at a whiteboard; the apps handle academic instruction, not you
- Constructing a complete curriculum without guidance; you begin with an established framework and inject your own personality and narrative skill
- Passively monitoring students on devices; the motivation model here is dynamic, individualized, and continuous
- Working through layers of administrative approval to secure support for at-risk students; when a student requires additional coaching, you decide and implement immediately
- Avoiding assessment of assignments, conducting standardized exam preparation, or handling parent correspondence; Campus Leads manage family communication, and the other tasks simply don't exist in this model
