Student Services Specialist: Elementary School
About the role
The Student Services Specialist plays a pivotal role in supporting the academic and behavioral needs of students with disabilities across three elementary schools. They oversee special education programs, align IEP procedures with district goals, and facilitate communication between families, staff, and external agencies.
Responsibilities
- Supports instruction in classrooms to enhance student achievement.
- Ensures timely academic and behavioral support for students with disabilities.
- Verifies the delivery of special education instruction and related services as outlined in IEPs/504 plans.
- Coordinates IEP meetings and ensures all documents are completed in compliance with state and local policies.
- Manages and oversees Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Academic and Behavioral programs.
- Collects and analyzes data for student achievement and program effectiveness.
- Maintains confidentiality of student records and communicates with parents and guardians about the special education process.
- Facilitates transition meetings and provides support for discipline training.
- Develops and implements professional development sessions for staff.
- Hires and trains certified special education teachers and paraprofessionals.
- Works with the building administration to evaluate certified special education staff and paraprofessionals.
- Establishes and maintains effective partnerships with families and communities.
- Attends training sessions, conferences, and participates in district committees.
- Supports and participates in due process activities as needed.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's Degree in special education or a related field.
- A valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a General Administrative Endorsement/license.
- Minimum of five years teaching and/or administrative experiences.

Benefits
The position offers a comprehensive benefits package including 261 days of service, 25 vacation days, 12 sick days, and 2 personal days. There is also a monthly mileage stipend of $125, medical, dental, and optical insurance options, life insurance, and doctoral tuition reimbursement.
Pay
The salary range for this position is $105,672 - $114,382, with 261 days of service, including paid legal holidays.
