Position Duties/Responsibilities
- Manage and operate the Office of Student Services.
- Provide administrative support, coordinate meeting scheduling, maintain records, and assist with distributing policy updates and student communications.
- Serve as an initial point of contact for students seeking assistance, guidance, and referrals to campus and community resources.
- Aid students in navigating university policies, procedures, and support services while promoting student success, retention, and well-being.
- Assist students experiencing academic, personal, behavioral, or financial challenges by connecting them with appropriate resources and follow-up services.
- Support the University's behavioral intervention, threat assessment, and student care efforts through information gathering, documentation, follow-up, and coordination with campus partners.
- Advocate for students by helping them identify barriers to success and facilitating appropriate interventions and support services.
- Manage and administer the Poke Pantry program with the assistance of student staff.
- Provide guidance and assistance to university-sanctioned student organizations in planning, organizing, and implementing programs and activities that enhance student engagement and support institutional recruitment and retention goals.
- Facilitate peer mediation training and conflict resolution services for students and student organizations.
- Aid in the development, implementation, and enforcement of policies and procedures related to student organizations and student conduct.
- Aid in communications between the Office of Student Services and other campus offices, including Human Resources, Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Athletics, and University Police.
- Assist with retreats, training, and leadership development opportunities for student organizations and student leaders.
- Help develop and implement assessment measures for student programs, conduct initiatives, advocacy services, and student engagement efforts while collecting data and preparing reports.
- Manage budgets and resources associated with student activities, programs, and assigned initiatives.
- Coordinate workshops, presentations, and educational outreach initiatives for students and the campus community.
- Partner with campus and community stakeholders to develop and deliver programs that support student success, engagement, accountability, and well-being.
- Promote opportunities for civic engagement, leadership development, and community involvement.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and remain current on trends, best practices, and legal issues related to student conduct, case management, student advocacy, and student engagement.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Student Support and Advocacy.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in student affairs, student services, educational leadership, higher education or closely related field.
- Experience in student development, student organizations, multicultural affairs, retention/mentorship, student activities, or similar student life role.
- Evidence of strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to utilize computer software to draft professional correspondence, produce basic graphics, and other published works associated with the position.
- Experience managing program budgets.
- Ability to work frequent evenings, nights, and weekends during fall/spring semesters with prior notice.
- Experience working with diverse populations in a state university or similar setting.
- An energetic, student-centered approach to program development and delivery.
- Experience as a leader of a college campus student organization or student organization advisor.
- Knowledge of new student orientation programs as a student leader or coordinating/collaborating professional.
- Experience supervising full-time employees, graduate assistants/intern, student workers, and other support personnel.
- Familiarity with relevant legal and governance issues at the campus, local, state, and federal levels.
- Experience in policy development, enforcement, and compliance monitoring in an educational setting.
