Student Respiratory Therapist
About the role
Responds to cardiac and respiratory arrest according to Hospital policy. Provides direct Respiratory Care to patients by administering Respiratory Therapy modalities including the set-up and administration of oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, and medication nebulization therapy; the application of Chest Physiotherapy (CPT) techniques. Performs patient assessments, observes and reports patients’ progress and reactions to treatment. Maintains appropriate departmental records.
Responsibilities
- Administers Respiratory Therapy modalities including oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, and medication nebulization therapy.
- Applies Chest Physiotherapy (CPT) techniques.
- Makes regular rounds and administers modalities according to plan established by a respiratory therapist.
- Performs patient assessments and reports patients’ progress and reactions to treatment.
- Makes suggestions for modification of treatment plan to respiratory therapist as indicated.
- Completes necessary documentation of treatments given and patients’ responses.
- Reports to the respiratory therapist, nurse, and physician as needed.
- Maintains continuing education relating to cultural competency and age-specific care.
- Afford appropriate knowledge of the principals of growth and development of the pediatric patient.
Requirements
- Must have a valid Massachusetts license as a Respiratory Therapist.
- Must have a current CPR certification.
- Must have a strong understanding of pediatric respiratory care.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in Respiratory Therapy.

Pay
The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
Schedule
Part-time position with standard hours of 12 per week.
