Student Resource Coordinator
About the role
The Student Resource Coordinator holds responsibilities primarily in coordinating the basic needs resource offerings by the Center for Student Life & Leadership. This position engages faculty, staff, and student organizations to support communication and resource offerings. It supports special programs that relate to areas of student support, including food, housing, and financial insecurity.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and support activities pertaining to student emergency housing, food, and funding issues at all GRCC locations (Main Campus, DeVos Campus, MTEC, and Lakeshore).
- Serve as back-up support to the Dean of Students APSS for emergency funding process.
- Offer outreach to students facing housing, food, and/or funding crises, including Navigate referrals for Basic Needs and MiBridges workshops and applications.
- Support the offering in coordination with the Center for Student Life & Leadership Director and Assistant Directors of on-campus learning opportunities in the form of workshops or forums for students centered on tenant rights, nutritional wellness on a budget, and other related crisis-based issues around housing, food, and funding.
- Develop and promote volunteer opportunities for staff and student volunteers for campus basic needs initiatives, including but not limited to the food pantry, clothing closet, and donation drives.
- Web editor for the grcc.edu/gethelp student resource webpage.
- Responsible for communication promoting the center’s programming and resources for faculty, staff, and students.
- Manage food and snack pantries inventories, which would include food drives, stocking, distributing inventory to snack pantries, etc.
- Maintain updated data to the Center for Student Life & Leadership’s basic needs dashboard.
- Cook certified.
- Coordinate Information Stations at the beginning of major semesters.
- Affirmative action coordinator.
- Assist with Student Life services including opening, closing and managing the front office.
- Assist with campus-wide events including but not limited to Involvement Week, Homecoming, Open Houses, and Commencement.
Requirements
This is an on-campus position. Regular attendance during normal scheduled hours is required. Being present is essential for serving students and performing the essential functions of this position. Regular communication with the campus and community will include e-mail, phone, classroom visits, face-to-face conversations, web page management, community partnering, etc. Persons in this role are identified as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). CSA's will be trained and responsible for reporting Clery Reportable Crimes to Campus Police as required by the Clery Act. Regular travel to Lakeshore and MTEC locations is required.
