Student Research Assistant II _On-Campus FWS

This position is for students with a Federal Work Study (FWS) award for the current school year. Applicants must verify eligibility by attaching their FWS Program Student Statement.

About the role

Student Research Assistant II (On-Campus FWS) will assist with organizing and running events for the Institute for Public Diplomacy and Global Communication (IPDGC) in coordination with the Director. The role involves finding, inviting, and communicating with speakers; booking rooms; setup and cleanup; on-site presence during events; AV support; registration; coordinating food/drinks; and working with communication assistants to promote material. Additional tasks may include event-related coordination not listed here. Estimated workload is 5–10 hours per week, varying by week.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and execute events, including speaker invitations, room bookings, setup, cleanup, and on-site management
• Manage AV, registration, and food/drink logistics for events
• Collaborate with communication assistants to promote events and distribute materials
• Perform administrative and research tasks under faculty or research coordinator direction, such as:
• Assisting with experiments, coding, data entry, cleaning, and analysis
• Preparing research drafts for articles, reports, or presentations
• Conducting literature reviews and drafting summaries
• Creating graphs and figures
• Complete special projects or other duties as assigned based on departmental or faculty needs

Qualifications

• Some applicable educational, technical, or professional experience (training will be provided)

Pay

$19.65 per hour

Schedule

• Standard business hours (Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM)
• Hybrid work arrangement (mixture of in-person and virtual work)
