Student Preschool Classroom Assistant (Student Temp)
About the Role
The Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) under the College of Education, Health, and Human Services is a high-quality early childhood program applying a Reggio Emilia-inspired constructivism theory of learning. The curriculum focuses on nurturing children's critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The ECEC is a State of Michigan-approved and NAEYC-accredited early learning center for young children, serving as a model teacher preparation and child study facility for university students enrolled in UM-Dearborn education courses.
The center is seeking highly motivated and compassionate students to assist lead teachers in a preschool classroom environment. Work-study students are welcome to apply.
Responsibilities
- Work with children (ages 1-6) in a classroom setting
- Assist with group time activities
- Support outdoor exploration
- Document children's thoughts and ideas
- Provide lunchtime and snack support to children
- Prepare snacks
- Provide one-on-one attention when needed
- Maintain the classroom
Requirements
- Must be a current UM student
- High School Diploma
- Clear written and oral communication skills
