The position is for the 2026-2027 academic year. Two positions are available; flexible hours, based on class schedule.

Job Summary

The TRIO/College Success Program (CSP) is currently seeking a qualified Peer Leader to work with students in the TRIO Center. The College Success Program is part of federally funded TRIO Programs designed to support CSP participants in achieving their educational goals. The mission of CSP is to retain Northern Wyoming Community College District program participants until they complete their degree, certificate, or transfer to a 4-year institution, fostering an inclusive environment. The program offers comprehensive support in four areas: Academic, Career, Financial, and Personal/Social assistance. Participants are typically underrepresented or in need of additional support. The Peer Leader will collaborate with other Peer Leaders to fulfill assigned tasks.

Education/Qualifications

  • Good conduct and academic standing with the college
  • Sheridan College Student currently enrolled
  • Cumulative GPA is 2.0 or greater

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to connect with non-traditional/at-risk students in a positive and professional manner
  • Great communication and time management skills
  • Creativity and networking skills
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Outlook
  • Clear understanding of FERPA and student confidentiality
  • Preference is given to TRIO/CSP participants
  • Ability to work independently, proactively, and willing to ask questions

Job Duties

  • Welcome students and community members to TRIO/CSP by providing excellent customer service
  • Answer calls as needed, relay messages, and assist students in scheduling appointments with staff
  • Plan and facilitate program, social, career, and cultural events
  • Tutor students in successful college skill-building (e.g., note-taking, study skills, time management)
  • Complete needed program documentation of services, including accurate time and effort
  • Attend all TRIO/CSP program events as requested by the program staff
  • Meet regularly with work-study coordinator (TRIO/CSP Senior Mentor)
  • Hold regularly scheduled office hours
  • When needed, assist Program Director with TRIO file management (scanning, copying, shredding)
  • Support all student organizations tied to TRIO/CSP (create criteria, guidelines, assist in annual activities)
  • Conduct TRIO/CSP outreach to students and student clubs through tabling and other events, as applicable
  • Collaborate with other Peer Leaders in completing all assigned tasks (create advertisements and posters, hang posters, update information boards in TRIO, decorate for center events, assist in obtaining donations for TRIO/CSP events)
  • Other duties as assigned
