About the role

This position offers hands-on experience for students enrolled in an accredited nursing school, focusing on the rehabilitation process at SSM Health Rehabilitation Hospital.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients in the rehabilitation process through appropriate nursing care and carryover of rehabilitation techniques.
• Obtains vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations) as directed.
• Answers call lights promptly and reports problems to a primary nurse/designee.
• Reinforces rehabilitation techniques as directed to maximize patient recovery.
• Participates in Therapeutic Dysphagia and Feeding Program as assigned.
• Communicates effectively with the rehabilitation team including nursing, therapy, and physicians.
• Maintains patient confidentiality, patient rights and privacy.
• Collects specimens from patients as assigned and transports specimens to the lab if required.

Requirements

• Current enrollment in an accredited nursing school (ADN or BSN program).
• Must provide proof of completion of the first year/fundamentals of nursing, or equivalent.
• BLS Required.
• Skilled in utilizing a variety of nursing equipment.
• Possess interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and appropriately to patient families, physicians and other hospital associates.
• CPR required.

$22 per hour plus $2 night shift differential.

Schedule

PRN or Full-time Days/Nights - 12 hour shifts 6:45-7:15 (PRN must work 4 shifts per every 6 week period).
