Student Nurse Acute Care Technician - CVICU

About the role

This position provides assistance and/or performs basic activities of daily living and specified treatments and procedures under the direct supervision of the nurse. This position may perform non-direct patient care activities as assigned, requested, or directed.

Responsibilities

• Performs and documents basic patient care tasks under the direct supervision of an RN.
• Maintains competency of tasks in which the Student ACT has been trained.
• Completes assigned tasks within required timeframe.
• Serves as a role model to other ACTs for basic patient care competencies and tasks.
• Maintains a safe environment. Reports safety hazards to appropriate personnel.
• Communicates effectively with others. Shows respect to patients, families and co-workers. Reports patient related information in a timely manner.
• Works in collaboration with all members of the health care team. Utilizes chain of command appropriately.
• Performs supply, equipment, and environmental-related activities as required, and described in principal accountabilities.
• Maintains the medical record. Documents accurately in the medical record as per unit/TriHealth guidelines.
• Provides other clerical support to unit as needed and directed by charge nurse or manager.

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Completion of first nursing clinical rotation/semester
• Reading and math ability appropriate to the position
• Multi-line phone skills, familiar with patient call systems and pagers
• Previous experience with computer operation
• Student Nurse (LPN or RN)
