STUDENT - Legal Analyst

About the role

An analyst in ZIM’s US Legal, Claims and Insurance Department is expected to assist the attorneys, paralegal, and claims handlers in day‑to‑day tasks, including preparation of documents, templates, and processes; processing and organizing claims and payments to customers; managing, responding to and filing emails; communicating professionally with internal stakeholders and external third parties; and performing select research and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

• Collect data from systems and internal parties
• Analyze reports and provide recommendations
• Create process maps
• Draft correspondence, routine legal and claims‑related documents, and communications to internal and external parties
• Communicate with internal departments and external stakeholders to obtain information, follow up on requests, and facilitate resolution of matters
• Prepare clear, readable reports of findings and present recommendations to leaders
• Support ad‑hoc projects for both internal and external parties
• Identify automation or improvement opportunities
• Identify and implement technology utilization

Requirements

• Student of Law, Marine Studies, or Marine Logistics/Management Systems
• Analytical skills
• Proficient in English (speaking, reading, and writing)
• High level of competence in Office tools, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to draft clear, professional business correspondence and documents for internal and external audiences
• Strong attention to detail

Schedule

Must be able to commit to working on‑site in our Virginia Beach location, 20 hours per week, during normal business hours.
