About the role

This role is not about teaching. It is about motivation. At Alpha, academic learning happens through AI-driven applications. There are no lectures or textbooks. Approximately 60% of your time is spent facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops covering topics such as public speaking, concentration, and constructive feedback. Around 30% involves working with students individually or in small groups, analyzing their progress via Coachbot analytics, and guiding each toward their weekly application goals. The remaining 10% consists of data analysis that informs your coaching strategy for the week ahead.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops for K-8 cohorts addressing public speaking, focus, feedback exchange, and other transferable skills; modifying the existing framework and creating new sessions when you identify unmet needs
  • Conducting daily individual and small-group coaching sessions that drive every student toward their weekly app targets, leveraging Coachbot analytics, Alpha's motivational tools (school currency, leaderboards), and your personal connection with each student to overcome reluctance
  • Delivering the Test2Pass (Alpha's competency-based evaluation) for each life skill and continuing to coach students who do not achieve mastery until they succeed
  • Tailoring your approach across a broad developmental spectrum, from kindergarteners requiring dynamic, movement-based engagement to 8th graders who respond to candid conversations and responsibility
  • Analyzing weekly cohort metrics in Coachbot, pinpointing students falling behind, and refining your coaching methods for the upcoming week based on data insights

Requirements

  • Able to work on-site at an Alpha campus located in Beverly Hills, CA; Piedmont, CA; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Miami Beach, FL; Palm Beach Gardens, FL; Chicago, IL; Raleigh, NC; Portland, OR (relocation assistance provided)
  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years of direct experience working with K-8 students (teaching, coaching, tutoring, camp counseling, or youth program management)
  • A concrete example you can articulate of pushing a K-8 student toward a challenging objective: the objective itself, your actions, and the result
  • Comfort with allowing AI to manage instructional delivery while you concentrate on motivation and life-skills development
  • Authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Background in youth sports coaching, debate programs, camp leadership, theater, or extracurricular initiatives where you held direct accountability for driving student motivation toward defined outcomes
  • Demonstrated record of personal excellence (academic, athletic, or career-related) that makes maintaining rigorous expectations a natural behavior rather than an adopted stance
  • Communication and presentation skills capable of engaging a room of 12-year-olds for an hour without relying on volume or authority
  • Proven ability to transform unmotivated or oppositional students into engaged contributors
