The Learn and Earn program at Bluffton University offers hundreds of student positions, employing more than 60% of the student body. Positions include departmental student assistants, coaches, desk managers, library student workers, admissions data/counselor interns, resident advisors, dining services student workers, becoming a scholar mentors, grounds crew/custodians, bookstore student assistants, PR student assistants, video/streaming tech center workers, theatre assistants, costume/lighting technicians, Wit journalists, editors, social media managers, sports reporters, and ministry assistants.
Responsibilities
- Departmental student assistants assist in various administrative tasks within departments.
- Coaches student assistants support athletic teams and programs.
- Desk managers handle administrative duties at Marbeck Desk.
- Library student workers assist in library operations.
- Admissions data/counselor interns provide support in admissions processes.
- Resident advisors ensure the safety and well-being of residents in dormitories.
- Dining services student workers prepare meals and assist in food service operations.
- Becoming a Scholar mentors guide new students through the orientation process.
- Grounds crew/custodian maintain campus grounds and facilities.
- Bookstore student assistants assist in book sales and inventory management.
- PR student assistants promote university activities and events.
- Video/streaming tech center workers manage video and streaming services.
- Ministry assistants support religious and spiritual activities.
- Theatre assistants/costume/lighting technicians help with stage productions.
- Wit journalists/editors/social media managers/sports reporters cover campus news and events.
Requirements

Becoming a Scholar Mentor
- Assist new students in the orientation to the Bluffton experience.
- Be directly supervised by the instructor for the Becoming a Scholar section.
Ministry Team
- Chosen students serve in various roles including Pastoral assistant, Hall chaplain, chapel assistant, worship leader, Spiritual Life Week coordinator, Sunday Night Worship coordinator, and BASIC coordinator.
President's Ambassadors
- Aid in recruiting prospective students, welcoming guests, and engaging with alumni and donors.
- Represent Bluffton University positively and knowledgeably.
Resident Advisors
- Build a sense of community among students.
- Host floor/hall events/programs.
- Help students make connections on campus.
