Student Intern - Human Resources

This is a regular student intern position designed to provide practical application of knowledge and skills within a professional setting. Interns work under the supervision of departmental staff or faculty and may gain exposure to industry practices, workplace expectations, and professional networking opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day Human Resources operations and administrative tasks.
• Support HR projects and initiatives, including employee engagement, training, and organizational development efforts.
• Help maintain employee records and ensure data accuracy in HR systems.
• Assist with preparing reports, presentations, and HR-related communications.
• Provide customer service by responding to basic employee and applicant inquiries and directing them as appropriate.
• Support compliance efforts by helping track required documentation and deadlines.
• Participate in meetings, trainings, and HR events as assigned.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Open to current UCO students majoring in Human Resources or a similar field.
• Basic understanding of Human Resources principles and practices.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple assignments.
• Willingness to learn and take initiative in a professional office setting.

Enrollment Requirements

• Fall/Spring Semesters: Student employees must be enrolled at least half-time (5 hours for graduates, 6 hours for undergraduates). F1/J1 Visa students must be enrolled full-time (9 credit hours for graduates, 12 credit hours for undergraduates).
• Summer Semester: Students must be enrolled in at least 3 summer credit hours or be enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in the minimum credit hours required for their classification. Students enrolled in fewer than 3 summer credit hours will be subject to FICA taxes.
• Federal Work Study Program (FWSP): Students must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours (undergraduate) or 5 credit hours (graduate).
• Enrollment Exception: If the number of credit hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum required, the student must provide a letter from their Academic Advisor stating the hours needed and anticipated graduation date.

New incoming students are not eligible for student employment until the semester in which they begin classes.

Schedule

18 hours per week: Tuesday and Thursday from 8am–1pm, and Friday from 8am–5pm.
