About the role

The Marin County Free Library (MCFL) is a special taxing district that operates ten branch libraries in Marin under the authority of the Board of Supervisors. It provides public library services to the residents of the unincorporated areas of the County and the cities of Corte Madera, Fairfax and Novato. The position you are applying for is a paid youth internship at The Shop, located near the South Novato Library in Hamilton.

Responsibilities

• Assist patrons of all ages with a variety of craft projects including sewing, painting, woodworking, and more
• Safeguard tools and materials in the space
• Maintain a clean space and prepare it for future use
• Manage inventory of tools and materials
• Support seasonal events for the public
• Maintain a safe environment for all users

Requirements

• Maintain High School enrollment for the duration of the internship
• Reliable transportation to their assigned work location
• Responsible, mature, and motivated to learn
• Interested in working directly with the public
• Can commit to a minimum of 10 hours every two weeks

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a high school academic or vocational curriculum or within one year of graduating
• Under 18 years old must secure a work permit from their high school district before being employed
