STUDENT INTERN - COMMUNICATIONS (WRITING)

About the role

This temporary position is located at our Headquarters building in Bismarck, ND, with an anticipated start date in fall 2026 and end date in summer 2027. During the school year, the role is part-time and flexible around your school schedule. You will assist with writing and strategic communication initiatives within the Communications/Strategic Planning division.

Responsibilities

  • Assist publication editors and other writers to identify stories; schedule and conduct interviews; develop written content; and coordinate the review process in support of Cooperative and member communications programs.
  • Contribute content and communication materials for magazines, newsletters, social media, intranet, websites, blogs, presentations, and other communication channels.
  • Assist with special events and projects, as needed.
  • Develop internal communication materials and employee engagement content for the intranet and other employee communication platforms.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Be enrolled as a full-time student in a two-year communications-related program with at least one year completed, or a four-year communications program with at least two years completed, or be a recent graduate (within the past 12 months).
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous internship or relevant work experience.
  • Additional certifications or coursework in field of study.

Physical and Environmental Demands

  • Ability to remain in a stationary position and move about the office building.
  • Occasional reaching below and above shoulder level.
  • Constant use of a keyboard/computer and other office productivity machinery.
  • Bending, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds.

Pay
