Student - Instructional Assistant - Exercise Science 3270

UVU Exercise Science department is seeking a Student Instructional Assistant for EXSC 3270. Class meets Monday/Wednesday at 1:00–2:15 PM and Tuesday/Thursday at 8:30–10:45 AM.

Responsibilities

• Assist in conducting and managing laboratory activities related to exercise testing and prescription.
• Provide support during fitness tests and assessments, including Resting Metabolic Rate, VO₂ Max, 1 Repetition Maximum strength testing, and Functional Movement Screening.
• Help students understand and execute test protocols accurately and safely.
• Engage in objective grading of assignments and laboratory practical assessments.
• Conduct meetings with students to assist them in completing their final projects, offering guidance, and clarifying course material as needed.
• Collaborate with the course instructor to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive learning experience.
• Ensure adherence to safety guidelines and ethical standards in the laboratory.

Requirements

• Must be a current UVU student.
• Must be an Exercise Science major and have completed EXSC 3270 with a B or higher.

Skills

• Strong foundation in exercise testing and prescription principles.
• Previous experience in a laboratory setting, particularly with exercise testing equipment, is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with students.
