About the role

The Student Financial Services Specialist supports the Student Accounts & Bursar office by handling administrative tasks related to student accounts, financial aid, and billing. The position requires excellent customer service skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support in all aspects of student account transactions; post charges; bill payment; posting of financial aid; tracking; file management; cash payments; credit cards and the like.
  • Answer and refer complex questions to senior staff members.
  • Respond to general financial aid and financing questions; schedule appointments.
  • Assist with forms completion, scholarship searches, financing options.
  • Process and reconcile payments received in-office and through electronic payment system.
  • Accept Raven Card payments.
  • Provide information and customer service functions to offices on campus; assist with financial clearance issues.
  • Verify and post Financial Aid batches.
  • Provide assistance to students in third party collections.
  • Provide project support to both billing and financial aid staff.
  • Refund and statement functions as needed.
  • Maintain and input current data on Federal Student Perkins loans for current students via the ECSI Servicing Select System.
  • Responsible for all aspects of Perkins Loan Collections.

Requirements

  • High school diploma is required; financial aid/billing/bursar office experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and expertise in effective customer service skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products specifically: Word, Excel, and database management.
  • Effectively use current and new technologies in the office environment.

Schedule

This is a non-exempt position with hours generally Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week but flexible to meet the department’s needs.

Supervision Received

General supervision is received from the Director of Student Accounts & Bursar.
