About the role
The SUNY Reconnect & Adult Learner Advisor at SUNY Maritime College reports to the Director of the Student Engagement and Advising Center (SEA Center) and serves as the College's single designated point of contact for the SUNY Reconnect program, a SUNY System initiative that helps adult learners with some college credit but no credential return to complete a degree. The Advisor manages a caseload of prospective and enrolled Reconnect students and other adult learners, coordinating outreach, admissions, program planning, and credit-for-prior-learning evaluation, and ensuring the College meets SUNY Central's reporting and compliance requirements for the program. This position also contributes more broadly to advising capacity within the SEA Center, supporting adult learners and current students outside of traditional daytime hours.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the College's single point of contact for prospective and enrolled Reconnect students, liaising with Admissions and the Registrar's Office to ensure award eligibility is identified and integrated into the admissions process consistent with SUNY guidance.
- Conduct proactive outreach to prospective adult learners, coordinating with the SUNY Recruitment Response Center and NYS Department of Labor Career Center referrals, and supporting recruitment efforts using SUN
