Student Employment Coordinator

About the role

This position supports students at the Cardinal Transitional Academy in developing skills related to social, community, and vocational readiness, as well as independent living. The program serves 6–15 students with cognitive disabilities who have completed traditional high school programming and have established IEPs. When school is not in session, the role collaborates with Vocational Coordinators and day services programs to help individuals with disabilities achieve independent living, recreational, and work goals.

Responsibilities

• Develop curriculum and activities aligned with developmental and instructional goals
• Prepare lesson plans and structure daily routines for students
• Direct Para-Professionals in classroom tasks on a daily and weekly basis
• Allocate at least 90% of time directly teaching daily-life skills to students
• Communicate openly and respectfully with families, coworkers, supervisors, and school staff
• Measure and document student progress toward academic achievements; provide progress reports as required
• Create and maintain records on attendance, accidents, incidents, and other noteworthy events per program policies
• Manage student behavior in accordance with outlined guidelines
• Provide a safe, thriving, and respectful environment for all students on campus
• Ensure safe work practices
• Perform additional duties with Vocational and Day Services when school is not in session

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Experience working with people with disabilities
• Ability to build effective and professional relationships with families and students
• Experience developing and implementing age-appropriate curriculum
• Proven ability to maintain a safe and studious classroom environment
• Highly developed oral and written communication skills
• Acceptable background character verification
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• Proficiency in computer software applications such as Microsoft Word

$38,000 – $45,000
