Student Employee FWS - VA Admin/Support Services

About the role

Student employment provides students with the opportunity to gain valuable work experience while supporting campus programs and services. This position is located in Newark.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service and support to current and prospective student veterans, military-connected students, and community members by assisting with outreach, admissions follow-up, and student engagement initiatives.
• Coordinate and support veteran-focused programs, events, and workshops by assisting with planning, setup, inventory management, and maintaining the student veteran calendar and lounge.
• Conduct outbound communications to applicants and current students regarding admissions, appointments, campus events, and next steps.
• Collaborate with campus partners, including the Veteran Mentor, VA Certifying Official, Student Life, and Admissions, to promote student success, while developing relationships with local businesses and community organizations to strengthen outreach and engagement efforts.

Requirements

• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
• Good telephone and customer service etiquette.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to operate standard office equipment or learn required office technology.
• Maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information.
• Work independently, follow directions, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Previous customer service, office support, or related experience.
• Familiarity with veteran and military populations, programs, or services is preferred but not required.

Pay

$13.30 per hour
