Job Summary

The primary role for Engineering Technologies department student aides is to monitor the Learning Center, located in building 9, room 143A. Student Aides may work on their coursework/homework during their shifts, so long as they are able to multi-task by simultaneously keeping an eye on the Learning Center.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities

  • Answer basic questions from students using the Learning Center.
  • Absorb students with signing in at the Learning Center sign-in PC.
  • Replenish printer paper and toner as needed.
  • Monitor the Learning Center to ensure posted rules are followed.
  • Notify supervisor(s) of any rule violations or concerns.
  • Encourage respectful noise levels within the lab.
  • Ensure no food is consumed at computer workstations.
  • Ensure open drink containers are kept away from computers.
  • Absorb assistance with classroom upkeep and organization when requested.
  • Help take inventory of classroom supplies and materials.
  • Complete other departmental support tasks as assigned by supervisor(s).

Job Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled as a student at Monroe Community College.
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress and be in good academic standing.
  • Federal Work Study eligibility is required for FWS-funded positions (must be approved by the Financial Aid Office prior to hire).
  • Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently (preferred qualification).

  • Pay Rate: $16.00/hour
  • Hours per Week: Up to 20 hours/week
