Student Employee-CAM-Dan Rather Building Equipment Room - CWS

College Work Study position available in the Office of the Dean, College of Arts & Media. Hiring rate: $8/hr. Open to all students, with preference for Sophomore to Senior classification.

About the role

The equipment room in the Dan Rather Communications Building (DRCB) is seeking two hourly student staff for Fall 2025. Hours vary; weekend shifts are optional. This role involves managing video, audio, and lighting equipment, assisting students and faculty with checkouts, and maintaining inventory.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and check out equipment to students and faculty.
• Inspect and safely store returned equipment.
• Consult with students about projects to tailor equipment orders.
• Manage inventory and reservations.
• Notify students via email when equipment is unavailable.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in a Mass Communications program.
• Must be eligible for College Work Study (CWS). To determine eligibility, email workstudy@shsu.edu for a Work-Study evaluation.
• Knowledgeable about video, audio, and lighting equipment.
