Student - Editorial Intern - Policy Office

UVU Policy Office is seeking a student intern for its editorial internship. Required documents: letter of recommendation from an instructor or employer, one writing sample and one editing sample OR two writing samples, and your class schedule. All applicants will take an editing test.

Responsibilities

• Proofreading
• Editing
• Policy research
• Other tasks as needed

Students can arrange to receive internship credit.

Requirements

• Must be a current UVU student
• Must have taken or are currently enrolled in English 2050 (advanced editing class) and/or have equivalent experience
• Working knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style
• Proofreading and editing experience

Students with prior publication experience and advanced writing and editing skills are encouraged to apply. While we have typically hired students from the English and Political Science programs, qualified students from other disciplines are also encouraged to apply.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel

Schedule

• Monday–Friday, 8 am–5 pm
• 15–19 hours per week (negotiable)
• Additional hours may become available for special projects
• Class schedule will be accommodated

This internship could potentially last more than one school year for qualified candidates, depending on job performance.
