About the Role
The Department of Residence Life is looking for student-centered, dedicated, and growth-minded professionals for our residential communities. Our Community Managers are provided the training and opportunity to support and develop communities that promote academic success and student engagement. In this role, you will be working collaboratively with others around the department to assist with the recruitment, selection, and training of staff, management of unique residential facilities, and the ability to create an impactful residential experience for students through support and engagement.
Responsibilities
- Community Development & Engagement
- Foster resident engagement and build community through educational, social, and Living Learning programs.
- Advise and develop Community Council leaders, collaborate with campus partners, and assess resident needs through surveys.
- Enforce university and housing policies, manage student conduct, respond to concerns and critical incidents, and connect residents with support resources.
- Supervision & Staff Development
- Recruit, supervise, train, develop, and evaluate Resident Advisors and assigned staff.
- Conduct regular meetings, manage staff schedules and performance, ensure training completion, and coordinate with HR on accountability matters.
- Summer Operations
- Serve as liaison for camps and conferences, coordinating with campus partners and sponsors to support operations.
- Oversee summer housing logistics, staff training, check-in/check-out processes, reporting, and billing accuracy.
- Operations & Logistics
- Manage building access, safety inspections, fire drills, facilities concerns, and housing assignments.
- Coordinate move-in/move-out activities, monitor housing records, and ensure operational compliance.
- Administrative Responsibilities
- Prepare reports, maintain documentation, process payroll and purchasing activities, and support departmental communications.
- Coordinate housing orientation completion, room inspections, committee work, and end-of-year reporting.
- On-Call Duty & Emergency Response
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation, responding to emergencies, incidents, and resident concerns.
- Provide staff support, coordinate with emergency responders, complete required documentation, and ensure adherence to duty protocols.
Requirements
- Required Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. One year in student affairs work or related specialty.
- Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

- Ability to utilize strong organizational, administrative, and communication skills.
- Ability to effectively establish professional relationships.
- Ability to act independently and react appropriately in crisis situations and maintain confidentiality.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in student affairs, counseling, or related field.
- Previous year of full-time (or two years part-time) residence hall experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience with mediation and conflict resolution.
- Demonstrated professional maturity, leadership and decision-making abilities.
Pay
$51,750 annually, plus paid duty ($125/night, $875/week).
