About the role
The LLC is seeking a creative and detail-oriented student to serve as its Brand & Visual Designer. This role is responsible for shaping the visual identity of the MLLL department and LLC across print and digital platforms. From event flyers to website graphics and social media assets, this person ensures that everything the department puts out looks polished, consistent, and on-brand. This is a design-first role. The ideal candidate has a strong eye for aesthetics, experience with design software, and takes pride in visual quality. Day-to-day LLC support duties are a shared team responsibility alongside the primary design work.
Duties
- Graphic Design & Visual Content
- Design event flyers, posters, digital banners, and promotional materials for MLLL and LLC announcements
- Create consistent, on-brand social media graphics for Instagram posts, stories, and highlights
- Develop visual assets (icons, headers, thumbnails, layouts) for the LLC and MLLL department websites in collaboration with student programmers
- Design printed materials such as signage, information sheets, name cards, and laminated reference guides for LLC spaces
- Maintain and evolve a visual style guide for MLLL and LLC communications, in accordance with OU brand standards (crimson #841617, cream palette, typography)
- Contribute original design concepts and creative ideas to the team proactively
- Manage and organize a shared library of design assets, templates, and brand files for team use
- LLC Daily Support — Shared Team Responsibility
- Assist students with language placement tests and assessment procedures
- Respond to placement-related emails and direct student inquiries to appropriate resources
- Support faculty and staff with day-to-day administrative and technical requests
- Maintain a clean, welcoming, and professional atmosphere in the LLC space
- Work collaboratively with LLC staff and student team members on larger departmental projects
Requirements
- Must be currently enrolled in the Fall Term as a student at the University of Oklahoma

Department Preferences
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Canva, or similar design tools
- Understanding of typography, color theory, layout, and visual hierarchy
- Familiarity with OU brand standards or experience working within brand guidelines
- Experience creating assets for both print and digital formats
- Basic understanding of web design principles (image sizing, file formats, resolution)
- Familiarity with languages other than English (not required, but valued in a multilingual environment)
- Prior customer service or student-facing work experience
