Summary
This position is responsible for assisting with daily services and operations of the Bookstore. Order Fulfillment responsibilities include monitoring and fulfilling all orders placed through the Davenport University Spirit Store and Voucher Online web sites.
Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service to staff, faculty, and visitors, which includes anticipating and exceeding their needs.
- Aid customers with purchases and returns, using the Bookstore’s point-of-sale system.
- Create and set up store displays and maintain store appearance by restocking & reorganizing merchandise.
- Set up and execute sales at University events located on campus.
- Provide input for buying apparel and merchandise.
- Verify and check in merchandise received.
- Fulfill and ship all online orders.
- Record tracking numbers, handle charges, and contact customers when issues arise.
- Verify the correct merchandise is shipped out, handle any returns.
- Maintain stock levels and notify Bookstore Marketing and Online Sales Manager and the Inventory Coordinator when levels need to be updated.
- Aid Bookstore Marketing and Online Sales Manager with web site maintenance.
- Assist with store coverage during peak Bookstore sales periods.
- Transport merchandise between University locations and local vendors.
- Provide GREAT customer service, anticipating and exceeding the needs of our customers.
- Demonstrate and promote the University Cultural Values.
- Secure all Bookstore assets by focusing on product security, accurate cash handling, and reporting integrity.
- Understand and abide by all external and internal regulations and policies. This includes NCAA, GLIAC and national affiliations associated within athletics or other role specific regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be able to work an irregular schedule, including evenings or Saturdays as needed, additional hours during peak times or as required.
- Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours as an undergraduate student or 3 credit hours as a graduate student while meeting the standards of academic progress.
- Previous retail experience preferred but not required.
- Previous office or warehouse experience preferred but not required.
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record. Employee will be required to drive a University owned vehicle on occasion.
- Demonstrated ability to work accurately and effectively with computerized data systems (PC and mainframe).
- Excellent interpersonal skills that transcend diverse audiences; communicating to university customers with positive attitudes toward change, confidentiality, and conflict resolution.
- Business office/Bookstore environment. Prolonged sitting and standing. Use of personal computer and telephone (eye and hand strain).
- Some travel between locations required (own transportation).
- Must be highly motivated and solution oriented with a high degree of integrity, ethics, and dedication to the mission of the University.
