Student Business Development Team Lead - SpaceX
About the role
Want an exclusive part‑time opportunity that is more than just a paycheck? As a Student Business Development Team Lead representing SpaceX on behalf of Mosaic, you will be on the front lines of the Starlink Customer Acquisition Program in your territory or on your campus. This role focuses on sales, lead generation, community outreach, and customer conversations, with a Team Lead component that lets you help support local recruiting, scheduling, and team coordination. You will own an assigned territory near campus, use door‑to‑door outreach as your main focus, and build momentum through local events, community connections, and referrals. You will receive paid training from Mosaic and Starlink/SpaceX, ongoing coaching, and the chance to earn hourly pay plus commission for every qualified activation. As a Team Lead you may also help identify strong student referrals and serve as a helpful point of contact for your territory or campus, earning $100 for each eligible referral you bring in who is hired and begins working on the program.
Why this is a great student opportunity: gain resume‑building experience in sales, business development, territory management, and customer engagement; represent a high‑growth technology brand while expanding access to reliable connectivity; be part of a program tied to SpaceX’s mission of developing technologies for a more connected future; earn hourly pay plus meaningful commission with a part‑time schedule designed around your classes; build confidence talking with new people, handling objections, and turning conversations into results; receive paid training, coaching, and support from Mosaic leaders.
About the company
SpaceX was founded on the belief that a future where humanity explores the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars. Starlink is SpaceX’s internet service, helping connect people in places where traditional options may be limited.
Responsibilities
- Own your territory: use broadband coverage maps and territory tools to identify households that may be a great fit for Starlink, plan routes, track outreach, and learn what works as you build momentum.
- Start real conversations: introduce Starlink through door‑to‑door outreach, explain service and hardware offerings, answer questions, and help interested customers get started using your personal referral code (customers complete their own order on their phone, so you never handle payment or personal information).
- Make an impact in the community: look for opportunities beyond the front door, including farmers’ markets, community events, local business partnerships, and civic groups where residents gather; strong performers may support Starlink events and activations.
- Grow your network: turn positive conversations and satisfied customers into introductions to neighbors, family, and friends who may be looking for a better internet option.
- Learn from your results: log activity, sales, hours, and mileage in Mosaic's field app at the end of each shift; have regular check‑ins with your Regional Sales Manager to review wins, talk through challenges, and sharpen your approach.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in school and able to work 15 to 25 hours per week around your class schedule, including some evenings and weekends when residents are most likely to be home.
- Have a reliable personal vehicle, a valid driver's license, and a smartphone (rural territories require reliable transportation).
- No prior sales experience required; we seek ambitious, coachable students comfortable meeting new people and eager to learn. Experience in sales, fundraising, customer service, athletics, student organizations, or campus leadership is a plus.
- Self‑motivated and dependable: you will have a manager, training, territory guidance, and a clear plan, but success depends on how you manage your time, follow through, and show up with energy and curiosity.
Benefits
- Paid training from Mosaic and Starlink/SpaceX.
- Coaching and feedback from experienced field sales leaders.
- Resume‑building experience with a well‑known technology brand.
- Potential consideration for spring semester expansion opportunities or campus lead roles based on performance and program needs.
Pay, perks, and support
- Base pay: hourly rate plus a $200 commission for each qualified activation (paid after activation is qualified).
- Team Leads may also receive $100 for each eligible referral who is hired and begins working on the program, subject to program referral guidelines.
- Additional perks: mileage reimbursement, monthly cell phone stipend, Mosaic‑provided Starlink apparel, and regular manager support.
- Example: a representative working 20 hours per week who reaches the program minimum of 10 activations per month would earn base pay plus $2,000 in commission for that month.
Schedule
Part‑time schedule of 15 to 25 hours per week, designed to work around your class schedule, including some evenings and weekends when residents are most likely to be home.
Program timeline and details
