Duties
Under the supervision of a Service and Repair Mechanic (Motor Equipment), Student Interns will observe the performance of vehicle diagnostics; mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repairs on vehicles and equipment.
- Assist with routine tasks such as brake jobs, oil changes, and other minor maintenance work.
- Research and order parts in the parts room.
- Support the department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations within the Incident Command System.
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an accredited automotive technician, automotive repair program, or Agriculture and technical program.
- High school and college level programs are included.
- High school students registered in apprenticeship programs duly registered with the Commissioner of Labor or student-learners enrolled in recognized cooperative vocational training programs (BOCES or CTE type programs).
Additional Comments
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
