Student Assistant (Fleet) - Region 2

Duties

Under the supervision of a Service and Repair Mechanic (Motor Equipment), Student Interns will observe the performance of vehicle diagnostics; mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repairs on vehicles and equipment.

• Assist with routine tasks such as brake jobs, oil changes, and other minor maintenance work.
• Be instructed on opening work orders, documenting work performed; or be assigned to a parts room where they will research and order parts and go out on parts deliveries.
• May serve a role within the Incident Command System to support the department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be currently enrolled in an automotive or diesel repair technology program.

Additional Comments

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Salary Range

The salary range listed reflects the full range for this graded position. For new State employees appointed into graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
