Student Assistant - Li Lab

About the role

The Student Assistant - Li Lab position is within the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES) Applied Genetic Technology Center at the University of Georgia. Responsibilities

• Take agronomic notes, collect data, and harvest soybean research plots in the field. (50% of time)
• Work in the seed lab to weigh and clean samples, thresh individual plants, and prepare seed for spring planting. (50% of time)

Requirements

• Preference given to students with background education in agriculture and/or chemistry.
• Preference given to students with experience with soybean or near-infrared spectroscopy.

Qualifications

• Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification: Relevant education in agriculture and/or chemistry, experience with soybean or near-infrared spectroscopy.

Skills

• Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies: Ability to stand, sit, talk, hear, use hands and fingers to operate a commercial grinder and computer, reach, and stoop/kneel to lift. Lifting up to 50lbs. Exposure to moderate-loud noise (earplugs provided), sit and perform repetitive tasks for long periods of time, exposure to soybeans and ground soybean/soybean dust (dusk mask provided).
