Student Assistant- Graduate Student Success Mentor

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one and small-group support to graduate students in a variety of topics and skills
  • Audit student needs and make referrals to appropriate NDNU support offices/centers for in-depth support
  • Maintain accurate records of all student interactions (one-to-one meetings, group sessions, email, etc.)
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development activities and training
  • Coach and mentor incoming graduate students on their academic and professional journey
  • Aid graduate students with navigating campus resources, software, and interfaces, including but not limited to MS Office Suite, Canvas, Campus Portal, Handshake, and library databases

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate program at NDNU
  • Completed at least one semester (2 courses) of graduate coursework
  • Positive reference from at least one professor or staff member at NDNU
  • Have and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated experience working with relevant campus software and interfaces
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to providing excellent service
  • Experience in coaching and/or mentoring students is desirable
