Student Assistant - Climbing Wall Instructor

Essential Functions

• Demonstrate, explain, correct, and supervise practice of climbing concepts.
• Exemplify essential qualities of a good instructor, including professionalism, patience, active listening, organization, communication skills, leadership, preparation, and significant knowledge in area of instruction.
• Maintain boundaries and foster an environment conducive to learning.
• Reliable, responsible, and maintain a professional demeanor.
• Correctly tie climbing knots and check for safety and usage.
• Work at heights while checking climbing holds and wall durability.
• Communicate effectively and interact in an appropriate manner with diverse populations, University Community, and the public.
• Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrate good judgment in decision-making and personal interactions.
• Obtain and maintain a Climbing Instructor Certification from the AMGA, PCIA, or CWA within six (6) months of employment.
• Obtain and/or provide proof of CPR / AED / First Aid certification with six (6) months of employment.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Absence and punctuality are essential in this position.
