Student Assistant

About the role

The position will provide laboratory support to researchers. It will be responsible for assisting other researchers to conduct experiments and prepare reagents and media. It is also expected that this position will perform routine microbiological procedures. This position will also help in the general housekeeping of laboratory supplies and instruments.

Requirements

• This position requires a background investigation including, a criminal background check demonstrating your eligibility for employment with the University of Georgia; confirmation of the credentials and employment history reflected in your application materials (including reference checks) as they relate to the job-based requirements of the position applied for; and, if applicable, a satisfactory credit check.
• Offers of employment are contingent upon completion of a background investigation.
• Must have a valid driver's license and be able to pass a background check.
• Must have a satisfactory credit check.
• Must have security clearance to access laboratory facilities.

Qualifications

• College senior level student or recent undergraduate student in a biological sciences field/degree.
• Preferred candidates have taken courses in microbiology, molecular biology and/or biological field with laboratory components.

Skills

• Familiar with a laboratory setting, in particular a microbiology laboratory.
