Florida Atlantic University’s Center for Online and Continuing Education (COCE) is seeking several undergraduate student workers to assist with eLearning initiatives on the Boca Raton campus.
About the role
This is a unique career-development opportunity for students interested in media, education, project management, business analytics, and emerging interactive technologies. Candidates must be eager to learn new tools, demonstrate solid typing skills, and gain basic proficiency in Microsoft Office. The role involves frequent client interaction and basic technical support.
Responsibilities
- Provide premier customer service
- Support faculty in Canvas
- Assist with making course and media content accessible
- Assist with progress and data reports
- Assist in course design and development
- Set up and manage weekly live webinar sessions
- Manage video studio, labs, and equipment
- Assist with on-location video shoots
- Assist with video editing
- Assist with social-media content creation
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Degree-seeking undergraduate student enrolled in at least six credit hours (twelve if international) with a minimum 2.0 GPA
- Reliable high-speed internet at home
- Reliable transportation
- Interest in and respect for the creative environment at FAU’s COCE
- Ability to collaborate successfully in a team setting
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently within departmental policies and guidelines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Integrity, punctuality, and dependability
- Motivation to learn and use new technologies and software (e.g., Premiere Pro, Camtasia, Photoshop, After Effects, Animate, Illustrator, VR/AR, etc.)
- Customer-service and public-relations aptitude
- Basic PC troubleshooting skills
- Light lifting required
Preferred skills
- Basic office skills (filing, typing, phone etiquette, photocopying)
- Knowledge of (or willingness to learn) Microsoft Office, Google Drive, video-production workflows, WebEx, and Canvas LMS
- Research skills (internet search, organization of information, data entry, cataloging)
- Management skills (events, scheduling, maintaining inventory)
- Media production (photography, audio, video production)
Pay
$15.00 per hour
Schedule
- Maximum 20 hours per week when classes are in session
- Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
