Job Description Graduate Assistant, Center for Intercultural Life Department: Carolyn Barber-Pierre Center for Intercultural Life Location: Tulane University Reports To: Director of Intercultural Life Position Summary The Carolyn Barber-Pierre Center for Intercultural Life (CBP-CIL) seeks a highly motivated, organized, and collaborative graduate student to serve as a Graduate Assistant supporting center-wide initiatives focused on student engagement, leadership development, intercultural programming, and community building. This position is ideal for a graduate student interested in gaining experience in student affairs administration, program management, assessment, strategic communication, and student engagement. The Graduate Assistant will play an active role in supporting departmental operations, coordinating programs and initiatives, maintaining communication platforms, assisting with assessment efforts, and fostering a welcoming and inclusive student environment. The successful candidate should demonstrate strong organizational skills, initiative, professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced campus environment. This is a 20-hour-per-week position and may require occasional evening and weekend commitments. Key Responsibilities Program Management & Student Engagement Assist with planning, coordinating, and implementing student-centered programs, workshops, initiatives, and campus engagement opportunities. Support logistics for recurring programs, signature events, leadership initiatives, and collaborative campus partnerships. Help create meaningful student engagement experiences that foster connection, belonging, leadership development, and intercultural learning. Provide direct support to students, student organizations, and affiliated initiatives connected to the Center. Assessment, Strategy & Administrative Support Assist with assessment efforts, including attendance tracking, data collection, surveys, reporting, and program evaluation. Support the development of reports, presentations, and recommendations using assessment data and student feedback. Help maintain organizational systems, calendars, databases, and resource materials. Assist with operational and administrative tasks, including budgeting support, purchasing processes, and materials preparation. Communication & Digital Engagement Maintain and update the CIL website and assist with digital communication efforts. Support development and distribution of newsletters, promotional materials, social media content, and student outreach communications. Assist with marketing and communication strategies to increase visibility and student participation in Center initiatives. Represent the Center through outreach efforts, tabling, campus collaborations, and student engagement opportunities. Professional Development & Collaboration Participate in staff meetings, trainings, divisional initiatives, and professional development opportunities. Collaborate with campus partners, faculty, staff, and student leaders to support Center initiatives and strategic priorities. Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and student-centered office culture. Qualifications Enrolled in a graduate program at Tulane University (higher education administration, business, public health, social work, communications, leadership, digital media, or related fields preferred). Strong organizational, project management, and time management skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience with program planning, student engagement, leadership development, or campus involvement. Experience with digital communication tools, website management, newsletters, social media, or content creation preferred. Interest in assessment, student development, intercultural engagement, and higher education administration. Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and campus partners from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort learning university systems and assessment platforms.
