About the Role

Newcomb-Tulane College Career Services employs a diverse team of responsible, motivated, and dynamic Career Peers. The vision is to equitably empower students throughout their unique career journeys.

This is a work-study position for the 2026-27 academic year, starting in Fall 2026 with an expectation of employment throughout the academic year. Career Peers work up to 10 hours per week, including self-scheduled office hours, flexible out-of-office program hours, and some virtual hours. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required for programming and outreach, pending your course schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Host drop-in hours to meet with students one-on-one to share career resources and advice.
  • Provide feedback on and approve student resumes and cover letters in Handshake.
  • Support career events.
  • Create, implement, communicate, and lead programs and outreach.
  • Serve as an ambassador of NTC Career Services through tabling, presenting to course sections and/or student organizations.
  • Assist full-time staff members with ongoing projects.
  • Attend mandatory weekly Career Peer Team meetings and regular one-on-one check-ins with program supervisors.
  • Have the opportunity to work on additional projects of interest.
  • Respect office policies and procedures and meet expectations for professionalism and customer service.

  • Eligibility for Federal Work Study (FWS) award; include a copy of your FWS award with your application.
  • Enrolled as a student at Tulane for at least 12 academic credits throughout the year.
  • In good academic standing for the term prior to selection and during the entire period of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of campus cultures, departments, student organizations, and other resources relevant to Career Services.
  • Experience with Canva and Microsoft Box.
  • Comfortable speaking to small and large groups while delivering career presentations and/or workshops.

Pay

Career Peer Advisors will earn a starting rate of $13.00 per hour for work completed.

Training

Career Peer Advisors must be available to attend continuing education throughout each semester. Training for all duties will be provided.
