Student Administrative Aide 1 - Athletics - Sports Medicine

About the role

Collaborate with Certified Athletic Trainers within Tulane Sports Medicine. Assist sports medicine staff in providing services to student-athletes through hydration, preventative care, and first-aid.

Responsibilities

  • Set up the field for practices/games and clean up afterwards.
  • Be present during practices and home games.
  • Perform designated tasks as directed by sports medicine staff.
  • Handle daily/weekly tasks in the athletic training room outside of practice/game times.

Breakdown:

  • 60% Assistance with set up, breakdown, hydration, and first aid during practices.
  • 25% Training room maintenance and organization.
  • 10% Game coverage including first aid, set up, breakdown, hydration, and operations.
  • 5% Administrative tasks including filing, sorting, and inventory.

Schedule

School Year (Fall): 25-27 hrs/week (broken up into 5, 4-hour shifts)

  • Practice: Monday – Friday, 5:30 AM – 12 PM
  • Home Games: Saturday or Friday - 8-hour commitment
  • Away Games: Not required but will be excused for class if on the travel squad

School Year (Spring): ~20 hrs/week

  • Winter Conditioning: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 5:00 AM – 8:30 AM
  • Practice: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday starting in March, 6:30 AM – 12:00 PM

Be available for all practices and all home games (opportunity to travel to away games). Times may vary depending on weather and other external variables.

Requirements

  • Flexible schedule (specifically in the morning).
  • Positive attitude.
  • Ability to work well with others (Certified Athletic Trainers, Physicians, other Student Assistants, Athletes, Coaches, and other support staff).
  • Willingness to learn (from Certified Athletic Trainers and other Student Assistants).

Physical demands

  • Standing, walking, and running for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull heavy objects.
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
  • Communication and organizational skills.

Work Environment

  • On Campus (majority of time): Wilson Athletic Center and Yulman Stadium.
  • Off Campus Indoor Facilities: Superdome and the Saints’ Practice Facility.

Student Assistants may be required to work outdoors in various weather conditions such as hot and cold environments and rain. They may also be exposed to loud and distracting noises, especially during sporting events. Work may be required over holidays and breaks such as Summer, Fall Break, Thanksgiving, and Christmas/New Years (depending on Bowl Game qualifications).

Pay

Hourly Pay: $11-15/hr
