About the role
Missouri Baptist University is seeking a Student Accounts Coordinator and Third-Party Billing Administrator to manage third-party billing, payments, refunds, and student account adjustments. This position works closely with students, families, campus departments, and external agencies to ensure accurate account management and compliance with applicable policies and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Process student account refunds, credit balances, emergency loan applications, and return-of-funds purchase orders within required timelines.
- Monitor expired refund checks and reissue or return funds in accordance with applicable requirements.
- Respond to billing and payment questions by phone, email, and in person.
- Manage the Student Accounts email inbox and provide helpful guidance to students and families.
- Invoice and reconcile third-party billing, including Veterans Affairs, tuition assistance, 529 plans, and 3Pay.
- Maintain required Veterans Affairs credentials and comply with applicable federal and state regulations.
- Partner with Financial Aid, the Registrar, and other departments to resolve billing and refund discrepancies.
- Process account adjustments related to schedule changes, withdrawals, meal plans, fines, and miscellaneous charges.
- Maintain accurate student billing records, audit spreadsheets, policies, and procedure manuals.
- Monitor regulatory changes affecting student billing, refunds, and collections.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field, or one to two years of relevant experience in financial services, accounting, or customer service.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when processing financial transactions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and student information systems.
- Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required Veterans Affairs credentials and training.
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration—or three to five years of experience in higher education student accounts or financial aid—is preferred.
