Student Account Specialist
Job Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to students, families, faculty, and staff by phone, email, and in person, including responding to account questions and assisting with payment-related needs.
- Process student account payments, departmental deposits, tuition credits, deposit refunds, returned payments, and related transactions.
- Reconcile daily transactions to the general ledger and collaborate with campus partners such as the Controller’s Office, Financial Aid, Student Involvement, and Admissions.
- Manage student refund processes, including processing, issuing, tracking returned refunds, and communicating with students and families.
- Train, schedule, supervise, and support student workers who provide front-line service in the Bursar Office.
Job Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- One to three years of relevant experience are required.
- One to three years of general accounting experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree.
- Strong customer service, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills are essential.
- The ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion is required.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities, interpret varied situations, and work both independently and collaboratively is necessary.
- Proficiency with office technology and the ability to learn new systems and processes is important.
Xavier University is seeking a dedicated and student-focused Student Account Specialist to join the Bursar team. This role provides front-line service to students, families, faculty, and staff by assisting with student account questions, payments, refunds, departmental deposits, and related financial processes.
