You facilitate small-group literacy workshops for gifted learners aged 5–8, conduct running records, create your own differentiated groupings, and build each lesson directly from assessment data. Responsibilities

• Facilitating small-group phonics instruction for gifted K–2 learners, designing each lesson from live student performance data rather than a scripted program
• Conducting running records, evaluating reading proficiency, and organizing your own differentiated teaching groups
• Leading 1:1 and small-group coaching sessions using school incentives, progress leaderboards, and personal rapport to inspire ambitious goals in adaptive platforms
• Monitoring live student advancement in adaptive software and adjusting instruction as data trends shift

What You Won’t Be Doing

• Delivering whole-class lectures. Students engage through self-paced applications, not traditional direct instruction
• Overseeing 25+ students. You operate with small groups of gifted children
• Adhering to district scope-and-sequence documents or preparing students for state testing
• Teaching content outside literacy (no math, science, or social studies responsibilities)
• Drafting IEPs, attending committee sessions, or managing district-level administrative processes

Requirements

• Master's degree in reading instruction OR formal reading certification (Wilson Reading System, Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, CERI, or equivalent). Standalone Science of Reading coursework does not satisfy this requirement.
• Bachelor's degree in any discipline
• Minimum 2 years delivering small-group early literacy instruction to students in grades K–2
• Proven ability to assess reading levels, form instructional cohorts, and create differentiated lessons independent of pre-packaged curricula
• Direct experience working with gifted or advanced learners (gifted programs, academic enrichment camps, or selective schools)
• Comfortable using AI-driven or adaptive learning software and interpreting learner analytics
• Available to work on-site at the GT campus in Georgetown (Austin), TX. Relocation assistance offered.
• Authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice-to-have Requirements

• Advanced Orton-Gillingham or multisensory structured literacy training beyond entry-level certification
• Hands-on experience with adaptive literacy tools (such as Raz-Kids, Lexia, or comparable K–2 platforms)
• Documented success coaching students performing well above grade-level expectations
• History of leveraging student performance dashboards to inform real-time instructional choices

Pay

The compensation level for this role is $50 USD/hour, which equates to $100,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year.

Schedule

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The payment period is weekly.
