Essential Job Duties
- Works collaboratively with district partners to support system-wide implementation of structured literacy practices, utilizing the components of Equitable Literacy Outcomes that are aligned with Cox Campus content and creating a plan to support: Leader Knowledge and Prioritization of Structured Literacy, Educator Professional Learning, Instructional Coaching, Culturally Responsive Pedagogy, High Quality Instructional Materials, Data and Assessment, MTSS and Intervention
- The SLPL Facilitator’s hybrid support includes training district- and school-based leaders on best practices in structured literacy; coaching district- and school-based leaders on structured literacy practices that lead to sustained classroom implementation; data consultation on diagnostics and progress monitoring to support classroom instruction; and using coaching and student data to plan effective implementation.
Other Responsibilities
- Presenting structured literacy content at local and national conferences
- Facilitating online Cox Campus community groups
- Collaborating with the Cox Campus content team to create/revise structured literacy content
- Navigating the features and elements of Cox Campus (including group functions, resource library, and reporting functions)
- Coaching Implementation: Utilizes Rollins’ coaching implementation framework to support leader knowledge and application of structured literacy practices, including: Build relationships with district and school-based leaders and educators, Collaborate with district and school-based leaders to create an implementation plan to improve current literacy practices, Support school leaders and coaches in conducting and administering professional development activities (including redelivery presentations for educators), Implement the coaching cycle to: Model effective instructional strategies and clearly explain evidence-based language and literacy practices, Support through guided practice opportunities, Observe instructional practice through classroom observations to identify strengths, areas for growth, and language and literacy priorities, Engage partners in reflective debrief conversations throughout the coaching cycle and determine next steps, Support district and school-level leaders in creating plans for implementation sustainability, Serve as liaison between Rollins Center evaluation specialist and client centers or schools, Review yearly literacy data and provide recommendations to organizational leadership teams for improving literacy outcomes, Create implementation progress reports to share with partner districts
- Professional Development Facilitation: Facilitate and design structured literacy professional development for educators and education leaders, ensuring best practices for adult learning theory are present, Promote research and evidence-based practices for educators, Analyze and compare existing curriculum practices with best practices, Create professional learning materials, engagement activities, and supporting resources for professional development sessions, Assist in data collection for progress monitoring and needs assessments, Deliver training sessions on interpreting student and teacher data to inform instruction, particularly progress monitoring data
Research/Professional Development
- Stay current on the latest research and best practices in the field of education, professional development, curriculum, and instruction
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to structured literacy, education, and instructional coaching
