Duties And Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the design and analysis of complex underground structures, such as tunnels, caverns, and underground transit systems
- Develop design budget and schedule
- Work closely with other engineers, architects, and construction professionals to ensure that designs meet project specifications and requirements
- Manage and direct site investigations and surveys to assess soil conditions, rock formations, and other factors that could impact the design of underground structures
- Develop and review construction plans, drawings, and specifications for underground structures, and supervise the work of junior and mid-level engineers and technicians
- Use computer-aided design (CAD) software and other tools as necessary to create and modify design drawings and models and supervise the work of junior and mid-level engineers and technicians
- Perform QA/QC checking of projects completed by other engineers
- Prepare and review project reports and documentation, and communicate with clients and other stakeholders regarding project progress and issues
- Monitor construction activities to ensure that they are in compliance with the design plans and specifications, and resolve any construction-related issues that arise during the project
- Mentor and train junior and mid-level engineers to help them develop their skills and expertise in structural engineering for underground structures
Qualifications
- Minimum B.S. Degree in Civil engineering. Master’s degree in civil or structural engineering is preferred
- PE license required
- Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles, especially related to underground structures and experience with complex projects
- Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on underground structures
- Advanced understanding of engineering software, such as SAP2000, ETABS, GT STRUDEL, LARSA, CSiBridge, RISA, MIDAS and MATHCAD
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to lead a team
- Good communication and collaboration skills, and ability to work with clients and other stakeholders
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards, such as FHWA, AREMA, ACI 318, AISC, and ASCE 7
- Experience with project management, including managing budgets, schedules, and resources
Pay
Compensation Range: $149,671.54 - $171,053.19
