TPZP, a Tutor Perini joint venture company, is the selected contractor for the California High-Speed Rail – Construction Package One (CP-1). This role is based in Fresno, CA.

About the Project

The California High-Speed Rail Authority’s Construction Package 1 (CP-1) is the first significant construction contract on the Initial Operating Section of the High-Speed Rail project in California’s Central Valley. The 32-mile stretch between Avenue 19 in Madera County and East American Avenue in Fresno County includes:

  • 12 roadway/railroad grade separations
  • Two mainline viaducts
  • One tunnel
  • Realignment of existing railroad tracks
  • Utility relocations
  • Roadway relocations
  • Two trench sections
  • A major river crossing over the San Joaquin River

Responsibilities

  • Supervise construction efforts to ensure the project is built safely, on budget, and on schedule.
  • Assume responsibility for planning, coordinating, and supervising onsite functions (scheduling, subcontractor coordination, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance of craft workers and subcontractors with contract requirements, efficient use of materials and equipment, site safety plans, and project schedule timelines.
  • Provide technical assistance, including interpretation of drawings and recommending construction methods and equipment.
  • Assist project management in developing the project schedule, site logistics plan, and implementing project procedures, working documents, and standards.
  • Support the Site Specific Safety Plan.
  • Coordinate with on-site Owner employees.
  • Perform additional assignments as directed by supervisors.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of construction experience.
  • 10+ years’ experience as a superintendent on heavy civil projects.
  • Experience as a superintendent on projects valued over $200M.
  • Previous superintendent experience on bridge, highway, or transit projects.
  • Knowledge of U.S. construction methods, techniques, and standards.
  • Experience with City, State, or Federal Government clients preferred.
  • Knowledge of contract management and familiarity with local trade/unions/craft.
  • Proficiency in MS Word/Excel, Procure, Bluebeam, HCSS Heavy Bid, or similar software.
  • OSHA certification and First Aid certifications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.

Pay

The expected salary range for this position is $225,000 – $275,000, depending on experience.
