Locations: Coatesville, PA or Sinking Spring, PA Pay: $23–$34/hour, based on experience and demonstrated skill Schedule: Approximately 58+ hours per week Per Diem: $120/day when eligible; work the required schedule and receive per diem for 7 days Assignment Length: Up to 6 months, with potential for extension or full-time employment About The Role JGM is hiring experienced Flux-Core Structural Welders for our fabrication shops in Coatesville, PA and Sinking Spring, PA. Our welders perform hands-on structural steel fabrication in an indoor shop environment, including material preparation, grinding, gouging, fit-up support, welding, and weld repair. Our primary welding process is dual-shield FCAW using 1/16" wire on carbon structural steel. Coatesville: AWS D1.1 beam and column fabrication Sinking Spring: AWS D1.5 bridge fabrication; welds must be able to pass UT inspection What Makes These Roles Attractive Competitive pay of $23–$34/hour, based on proven experience and weld-test performance$120/day per diem for eligible employees who work the required scheduleConsistent overtime and weekly payApproximately 58+ hours per weekPotential for higher-hour schedules in Coatesville, including alternating weeks of up to approximately 68 hoursWork in one primary location rather than traveling continuously from project to projectIndoor work in JGM's structural steel fabrication shopsAssignment expected to last up to 6 months, with the possibility of extension or conversion to full-time employment Before You Apply This opportunity is best suited for experienced structural welders who are comfortable with the following: Working 6 days per week and 58+ hoursTraveling independently to JGM to complete a weld test before an offer is finalizedCompleting a weld test before a final pay rate is confirmedProviding a resume that clearly demonstrates relevant FCAW structural steel experiencePerforming more than welding when production requires it, including grinding, gouging, cleaning, material preparation, and other fabrication-related tasks What You'll Do Perform structural steel welding on beams, columns, bridge components, connections, and other fabricated steel membersWeld carbon structural steel using FCAW, with additional processes potentially including SMAW, GMAW, and SAW depending on the projectWeld in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions as requiredPrepare material by cleaning, grinding, gouging, and performing other necessary weld-preparation activitiesRead and interpret shop drawings, weld symbols, joint details, and fabrication requirementsSet up welding equipment and select appropriate wire, gas, amperage, and other settingsInspect your own work for weld quality, including undercut, porosity, profile, spatter, and other visible defectsRepair welds identified as non-conforming by QC or a CWIMaintain required welder qualifications and successfully complete applicable weld testingFollow all shop safety procedures, hot-work requirements, and PPE standardsMaintain welding equipment, leads, tools, and work areas in safe operating conditionAssist with other fabrication-related duties as production needs require What You Bring Minimum 3 years of hands-on FCAW experience on structural steelDemonstrated experience welding carbon structural steelAbility to successfully complete JGM's applicable weld test Coatesville Experience working to AWS D1.1Experience with structural beam and column fabricationAbility to weld in the positions required by the work, including vertical and overhead as applicable Sinking Spring Experience working to AWS D1.5Bridge or heavy structural fabrication experience strongly preferredAbility to produce welds capable of passing Ultrasonic Testing (UT)Ability to weld in the positions required by the work, including vertical and overhead as applicable Additional Qualifications Ability to read structural drawings, weld symbols, and fabrication detailsWorking knowledge of AWS structural welding requirementsExperience with FCAW dual-shield welding strongly preferredComfortable working independently and maintaining consistent weld qualityDependable, safety-focused, and able to work the required overtime scheduleAbility to pass required background and drug screening Physical Requirements & Work Environment This is a hands-on industrial fabrication position. Therefore, employees must be able to: Stand and work for extended periods, including 10–12-hour shiftsLift and carry up to 50 lbs.Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and work around large structural steel componentsWear required PPE, including welding hood, gloves, safety-toed footwear, hearing protection, and other required protective equipmentWork around welding fumes, heat, sparks, noise, grinding, and other conditions typical of a structural steel fabrication shopMaintain sufficient vision to evaluate fit-up, alignment, and weld quality Why JGM JGM is an AISC-certified structural steel fabricator and industrial construction company supporting complex structural steel projects across the United States.
