Structural Steel Welder / Fitter

About the Role

We are hiring experienced Structural Steel Welders and Fitters for a shop-based fabrication position. This opportunity is suited for candidates with experience in structural steel work, blueprint reading, material preparation, fitting, and welding. Candidates with a primary background in either welding or fitting are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication specifications
• Measure, lay out, cut, fit, and assemble structural steel components
• Perform structural steel welding in accordance with job requirements and industry standards
• Set up and operate fabrication equipment and hand tools
• Use oxyacetylene torches, plasma cutters, drill presses, angle presses, jigs, tape measures, and squares
• Set up and operate a track torch when needed
• Inspect materials and completed assemblies for quality and accuracy
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Work with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and deadlines

Requirements

• Previous experience in structural steel welding, fitting, or fabrication
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
• Experience measuring, fitting, aligning, and assembling structural steel components
• Knowledge of welding processes, fabrication tools, and shop equipment
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain quality standards
• Commitment to workplace safety
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Flux Core welding experience
• Ability to pass a Flux Core welding test
• Experience setting up and operating a track torch
• AWS or other welding certifications are a plus

Pay

$23.00/hour — higher depending on experience
