Structural Steel Fitter Welder

Location: Cocoa, FL Job Type: Contract-to-Hire Shifts: 1st & 2nd Shift Starting Pay: $24/hour, higher depending on experience 2nd Shift Differential: +$3/hour Position Overview We are hiring experienced Structural Steel Fitter Welders for a production fabrication shop. This hands-on role involves preparing and assembling steel components, working from fabrication drawings, performing structural welds, and ensuring finished assemblies meet required dimensions and quality standards. Responsibilities Review fabrication drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications before starting each assignmentMeasure, mark, cut, fit, and position structural steel componentsAssemble steel parts and verify proper fit-up and alignmentPerform structural welding according to project requirements and applicable standardsSet up and operate fabrication equipment, machinery, and hand toolsUse oxyacetylene torches, plasma cutters, drill presses, angle presses, jigs, tape measures, and squaresSet up and operate a track torch when requiredCheck dimensions, alignment, fit-up, and completed weldments for accuracyMake adjustments as needed to maintain proper fit and qualityWork with supervisors and other fabrication personnel to meet production schedulesKeep tools and work areas clean, organized, and safeFollow all required shop safety procedures and workplace practices Required Qualifications Previous experience in structural steel welding, fitting, or fabricationAbility to read and understand blueprints and technical drawingsHands-on experience measuring, fitting, aligning, and assembling structural steelFamiliarity with welding processes, fabrication equipment, and shop toolsStrong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate measurementsReliable attendance and commitment to safe work practicesAbility to work efficiently in a production-oriented fabrication environment Preferred Qualifications Flux Core welding experienceAbility to successfully complete a Flux Core weld testExperience setting up and operating a track torchAWS or other welding certifications We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information.
