Structural Steel Fabrication Technician (Welder/Fitter)

Location: York, PA • Contract-to-Hire

From $23.00/hour (higher rates available based on experience)

1st Shift

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and fabrication specifications
• Measure, lay out, cut, fit, and assemble structural steel components
• Perform structural steel welding according to project specifications and industry standards
• Set up and operate fabrication equipment and hand tools
• Use shop equipment such as oxyacetylene torches, plasma cutters, drill presses, angle presses, jigs, tape measures, and squares
• Set up and use a track torch when required
• Inspect materials and completed assemblies to ensure quality and accuracy
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and deadlines

Requirements

• Previous experience in structural steel welding, fitting, or fabrication
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
• Experience measuring, fitting, aligning, and assembling structural steel components
• Knowledge of welding techniques, fabrication tools, and shop equipment
• Ability to work with precision and maintain high-quality standards
• Strong attention to detail
• Commitment to workplace safety
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Flux Core welding
• Ability to pass a Flux Core welding test
• Experience setting up and using a track torch
• AWS certification or other welding certifications are a plus
