Structural Steel Engineer, P.E.

Location: Novi, Michigan (Hybrid and On-Site) | Full-Time, Direct

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Structural Steel Engineer with a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Michigan. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in structural steel design and analysis, with a proven track record across industrial, commercial, educational, and wastewater treatment projects. Multi-state certifications are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design of steel structures for industrial, commercial, educational, and municipal facilities.
• Develop calculations, drawings, and technical specifications in accordance with applicable building codes and standards (AISC, ASCE, IBC, etc.).
• Coordinate with architects, fabricators, contractors, and project managers to ensure design intent and constructability.
• Review and approve shop drawings, connection designs, and field modifications.
• Conduct site visits and inspections as needed to verify structural integrity and compliance.
• Mentor junior engineers and detailers, providing technical guidance to project teams.
• Prepare and stamp engineering drawings and documentation in compliance with state regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Michigan required. Additional state P.E. licenses a plus.
• Minimum 7+ years of experience in structural steel design and engineering.
• Proficiency with structural design software such as RISA, STAAD, or RAM Steel; familiarity with Tekla Structures or Revit a plus.
• Strong understanding of AISC design codes, connection detailing, and fabrication processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail and ability to work in a team environment.
