Structural Project Manager

About the role

This is a full-time, hybrid role for a Structural Project Manager based in Southern California, working directly with our San Diego, CA location. The Structural Project Manager is responsible for the production, budget, and content of construction documents, ensuring each project and calculation is developed accurately, efficiently, and correctly. This position leads the project design team and is accountable to the Production Director.

Responsibilities

• Meet management and financial targets set by company goals and resource allocation.
• Complete, review, and apply SEOR seal to engineering plans and calculations for the analysis of wood, masonry, concrete, and steel structures using Excel, RISA, EnerCalc, etc.
• Establish, delegate, prioritize, manage, and communicate project tasks and timelines to meet deadlines with resource allocations.
• Facilitate internal production team meetings and coordinate with the Production Director to accommodate workload and project distribution.
• Maintain consistent and clear communication, mediate and present structural challenges, and coordinate with clients and other project design trades as required.
• Identify and provide initial concept solutions for unique project challenges.
• Assist with final edits of drafting and modeling of plans and details as required.

• Meet business development targets set by company goals to cultivate industry network.
• Write and negotiate contracts and amendments, validate project scope, review project budgets, produce and review invoices, and maintain collections.
• Perform site observations to verify construction is in accordance with PEI specifications.
• Initiate, delegate, manage, and review Construction Administration tasks with the design team.

Requirements

• BS in Civil/Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program; MS preferred.
• 6+ years of relevant experience with state registration as a PE; SE preferred.
• Mastery of concepts, theories, codes, and practices as applied to structural design.
• Proficiency in RISA, EnerCalc, and Excel; working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
• Desire to contribute to the company and the ability to effectively collaborate in a small, team-based organization.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, excellent verbal, written, and decision-making acumen, with the ability to communicate with all levels of colleagues and clients.
